2024 Year End Financial Report

2024 was a challenging year for POZabilities financially. For many years AIDS Walk provided sufficient funds to allow for the programming we wanted to provide. This event ended in 2023 and so we began looking for alternative funding sources. In addition we were planning to double the size and scope of the NExT pilot we ran in 2023. We began a hunt for Grant opportunities and were able to capture sufficient grants to fund the programs for the year. We were also the recipients of 2 independent events whose proceeds were donated to POZabilities. During the latter half of 2024 we began planning to run an in-house fundraiser in early 2025, A Sweet Affair. Other ideas are in the works to allow us to control our own financial destiny. We have also maintained a savings balance to allow us one year of programming should we fail to raise sufficient funds in any one year.

So as of today, our financial outlook is sound.

First, let’s take a look at the fundraisers held to benefit POZabilities;

The Golden Girls Holiday Drag Review

Jade Melrose and the Golden Girls drag artists held a holiday themed show at the Rail to benefit POZabilities, raising $500 through donations and an opportunity drawing.of fun and craziness from all who attended.

Red Ribbon Gala

Impulse San Diego held a fundraiser On World AIDS Day to continue our joint tradition of joining the younger and older parts of the LGBTQ community in San Diego ro remember those who we have lost, those living with HIV and to celebrate progress in ending the epidemic. The event, hjeld at Barrel and Board, featured a custom drink offering with proceeds donated, emcee Char Michaels “Cher”-ing her talents and a packed house for an informative panel discussion my members of the HIV community. The event raised over $3000 dollars in total and promises to be the best of our joint events so far.

Grants

For the 2024 fiscal year, we received the following grants;

  • San Diego Pride, $5000 (funded in December 2023)

  • Reunion Project, $4000 (tied to HIV and Aging Town Hall)

  • Human Dignity Foundation, $5000

  • AHF Foundation, $10,000

Following are our key financial reports for 2024. Included are a Statement of financial position (current) and a statement of financial activity by month for 2024.

POZabilities is not required to file a full Form 990 tax return as our income is less than $50,000. We file the 990 “postcard” only.
